Alamosa ..AKA.. The Dirty Mo'

Well I have less than two days left in Alamosa before I leave it for the summer... Here are some things I have learned or experienced in the 4 months I have been here:

-When they call it the Dirty Mo' they literally mean dirty.... I have never lived in a more constant windy town, and since we are down here where Colorado looks more like New Mexico than your classic CO scenery its verrrrry sandy/dirty, its always dusty and dirty. LOTs of dirt+wind wind wind= The DIRTY Mo'.
-Inhalers are a blessing when you play on a lacrosse field that is at the highest.altitude.in America. Seriously guys... Its hard to breath and run lots up here.
-Alamosa is SMALL. Can't say that it is the smallest town I have ever lived in, but I definitely wasn't gonna go back to a town as small as Ephraim. Alamosa may be tiny but we at least have 4+ fast food options, a Chilli's, and tons of good options for Mexican food :)
-If you aren't the "partying" type... weekends can get quite boring so what becomes a necessity for living here? NETFLIX. Its a beautiful thing.
-Weed smells good but is NO good. Now understand I don't know this by personal experience. Lets make sure that is clear. I have never smoked weed. But I have seen its effects on people and I just don't approve of the stuff. At all.
-Alamosa tries to make it feel like home.... With its weather. Yesterday I was on the LAX field shooting around and tanning with Kelly. Today it was a blizzard as I was studying for Finals.
-If you are from Alamosa, you are probably related to EVERYONE ELSE in Alamosa. Seriously. Its freaky.
-If you plan to live in Alamosa for the rest of your life.. You better learn how to farm. People here are farmers. We're out here in the middle of nowhere
-When you are talking about Colorado Springs you don't refer to it as Colorado Springs. Its just The Springs.
-When you drive about 35 minutes towards "The Springs" and take left turn before leaving the valley, you hit a HUGE pile of sand. BIG big big pile.. They call it "The Great Sand Dunes". Just randomly out there.

I have probably learned lots more while living here but I can't think of any more. All-in-all I love this town. Its small. Its dirty. But I like it here. Enough to come back next semester :) (which is something I have not done at ANY school I have ever attended...)

My Mother

So I have been realizing lately... I am exactly like my mother. I'm not sayin thats a bad thing, thats a good thing, I just have never noticed just how similar we actually are.

Here are the main things I have known/recently noticed that make us so similar:

-We have the EXACT same calves... now I know that sounds a little odd. but seriously. take my calves, shorten them a tiny bit, and give them a tan and you have my moms calves. Its crazy. and they are huge. seriously. High top boots can be a struggle to find....
-I like my apt cold. I have always felt like my house was a little colder than my friends houses but now I have noticed that whenever my friends are at my apt they are always cold when I am content or hot.
-Speaking of being hot.. We both DO NOT like being touched in our sleep. But really. Just stay on your side of the bed.
-All I gotta say is Donuts.Bacon.Gone With The Wind. 'nuff said
-We are both the most stubborn people you will ever meet. Now thats probably not the greatest quality for either of us... Especially when we are arguing with each other, but for reals... STUBBORN....
-We make the same faces... Seriously. look at these two pics and try and tell me that we both don't resort to the same face when caught off guard by a picture.
-I look like her! I never really thought that me or either of my sisters really looked like my mom. But I totally do! I think we look super alike in this pic. Especially because I am blonde. But there are lots of pictures out there of me and my mom where we look JUST alike.
-There are lots more reasons that make me and my mom twinners and I love them all! I Love my mummsy and I am glad that I am turning into her. She is a pretty cool person ya'll.
PS... I seriously look just like her in this picture. Just sayin. Except with red hair and white skin.

ASC

This semester I have been playing LAX at Adams State College in Alamosa, CO.
Here are some pics of all the semester had to offer :)

The boys game at Invesco. It was awesome. I have never been to a professional football stadium before. It was pretty cool.
Us girls took a team trip to Florida for a couple games. This was after our free day at the beach. It was an excellent day. Lots of seashell/sand dollar hunting, swimming with dolphins and manatees, and getting LOTS of sun and sunburns :)
Still in Florida eating at a fun pizza joint called the Mellow Mushroom. There was lots of weed innuendos all around. It was funny.
Us playing against Mesa State College. We ended up losing but is was a pretty fun game. We play them for our last game and we better win. Just sayin...
After our very first game against Colorado College. They were good and we were not....

We have one game left for the semester and it should be a good one! I am stoked for it and looking forward to a good summer break to take lots of pictures and work really hard at getting in better shape and improving my LAX skillz.
